A registered address is not a postal service with a legal label on it. Three different authorities look at it, and they look for different things. This is where addresses that cost €19 a month quietly fail.
A ladungsfähige Geschäftsadresse is an address at which documents can actually be served on you, a summons, a court order, an enforcement notice. That requires a real place and someone who can receive them. What matters is not the label but whether the address meets the requirements for a domestic business address and whether you can actually be reached there. Providers who ask for no identification at all are the ones to walk away from.
The Finanzamt issues your tax number and VAT ID, and it has become markedly more careful: VAT fraud runs through letterbox companies, and the Federal Central Tax Office cross-checks address data before issuing a VAT ID. An address used by a large number of companies for post alone, with no rooms in regular use and nobody on site, is not accepted as a place of business. Without a tax number you cannot invoice properly; without a VAT ID you cannot trade inside the EU.
This one surprises people. Some tax offices hand the file to a central office because they are not satisfied the company is really run from Germany, when the managing director holds no residence permit and is not here, they question whether the place of management sits in Germany at all. Under § 10 AO that is where the central management of the business is exercised, and it decides which office is competent and how long everything takes.
You can rent a German address for under €20 a month. Those offers are not a scam, they are a different product. What you get for that money is a forwarding service. What you do not get is anybody on site, rooms you can use, or an address that reflects where the company actually works.
The difference only matters at the moment it matters, when the Finanzamt asks what happens at this address, when a bank does its own check, when a court needs to serve something, or when a customer looks you up before signing. At that point a forwarding service has nothing to offer and you have a problem that costs far more than the saving.
So: if you compare on price per month, we are not your provider. If you want an address that holds up, we are.
Yes, it is a real, court-valid business address (ladungsfähige Geschäftsadresse) that can be used for your company registration and commercial-register entry, with proper mail handling.
Literally: an address at which you can be summoned. It is an address where legal documents, a summons, a court order, an enforcement notice, can actually be served on you. That needs a real place and somebody who can receive them. What matters is not the label but whether the address meets the requirements for a domestic business address and whether you can actually be reached there; an address that fails that can be challenged, with the consequence landing on you rather than on the provider.
It can refuse, or simply not process the file. An address used only as a mailbox, with no rooms in regular use and nobody on site, can make it hard for the tax office to establish where the company is actually based or managed: VAT fraud runs through letterbox companies, so the checks have tightened and the Federal Central Tax Office cross-checks address data before issuing a VAT ID. Separately, some tax offices hand the file to a central office because they doubt the company is really managed in Germany when the managing director has no residence permit and is not here. Under § 10 AO that is a question of where the central management is exercised.
Because it is a different product. For €19 you get post forwarded. With us there are rooms that exist and that you can book, a person on site who receives your post and your visitors, and an address that has something to show when an authority, a bank or a customer looks closely. If you compare on price per month we are not your provider. If you want an address that holds up, we are.
We cannot promise you an account, that decision is always the bank's. What we can tell you is what a bank finds when it checks: a genuine office you can walk into, real signage, rooms in use and a person on site who receives post. Addresses used by hundreds of companies for post alone are the ones that draw questions, and ours is not one of them.
We receive your mail, scan it and notify you digitally. We then forward the originals to you anywhere in the world, or store them securely until you need them.
Yes. German company law requires a domestic business address at which documents can actually be served, it does not require you to rent a whole office. What it will not accept is a pure mailbox or a PO box: if there are no rooms in regular use and nobody on site, the address can be challenged, and the consequences fall on your company, not on the provider. Our address sits at an office in Reutlingen that exists, with rooms you can book and people who receive post and visitors, which is what makes it hold up when the tax office, a bank or a court looks closely.
Yes. Post is received physically in Reutlingen. Letters from the tax office, the commercial register or the court are scanned and sent on digitally, and we can send them to more than one recipient, so the founder and the chartered accountant or company secretary in India both see the same document on the same day. Originals are forwarded by post where they are needed. Deadlines in German administrative letters are usually short, which is why we do not let post sit.
